Every guest in Montenegro must be registered within 24 hours of entering the country. Staying with us, you do not have to do this yourself — we register your stay. Here is what the tax is, what it costs and what we need from you.

Opening hours change between the season and the off-season, so we deliberately do not list them as fixed — call ahead before you set off.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the tourist tax in Tivat?
€1.00 per adult per night, half that for ages 12–18, and children under 12 are exempt. It is charged separately from the accommodation, and we confirm the current amount with your booking.
Do I have to register my stay myself?
Not if you are staying with us. ORTUS registers your stay. All we need is an ID card or passport for each guest.
What is the deadline for registering a stay?
Within 24 hours of entering Montenegro. That is why we ask for documents on arrival or shortly before it.
Do children pay the tourist tax?
Children under 12 do not pay. Ages 12 to 18 pay half the rate. We still need their documents for the registration itself.
Who is exempt from the tax?
Property owners in Tivat, with proof of ownership, and members of their immediate family.
