The airport is about four kilometres from the centre — around ten minutes by taxi — which makes Tivat the easiest way into Boka Bay. Driving from the Herceg Novi side, the Kamenari–Lepetane ferry shortens the trip: the crossing itself takes five to ten minutes, with frequent daytime departures. Arrival time and key handover are agreed in advance, especially for evening flights.
The centre and Pine promenade suit guests who want coffee, restaurants, shops and evening walks without a car. Porto Montenegro works well for short stays, the marina, events and a more urban waterfront pace. In summer it is lively, so keep that in mind if complete quiet matters.
Seljanovo is close to the sea and Porto Montenegro, but often calmer for families and longer stays. Donja Lastva has a slower waterfront rhythm, sea walks and less of a feeling that you are always in the centre.
Belane and the Pine waterfront are practical when you do not want to drive. Sandy Kalardovo next to the Solila reserve is shallow and calmer, while Plavi Horizonti on Luštica — fine sand and a long shallow stretching far into the sea — is worth the short drive. Oblatno cove is the pick for a sun-lounger and beach-bar day.
The Naval Heritage Collection in Porto Montenegro keeps a real submarine you can step inside. Vrmac hill trails look over both sides of Boka, Solila is a quiet walk among birdlife, and Gornja Lastva is an old olive-growing village with a lookout. Kotor and Perast are half an hour away — an easy half-day trip.
July and August are the peak, when the sea is warmest and the town liveliest. Swimming usually runs from June to early October, while May, June and September are calmer and pleasant for walks and trips — many guests enjoy Tivat most exactly then.
In Montenegro, a stay is registered within 24 hours of arrival. Who handles the registration, which documents are needed and whether the residence tax is paid separately are confirmed before booking.
Before agreeing, it is worth checking parking, floor, lift, pets, a baby cot, check-in time and how far the apartment really is from the place you are coming for. It is better to ask early than fix the plan on arrival day.
